Andries A. "Andy" Groeneveld

Andries "Andy" A. Groeneveld, age 60, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away on Sept. 10, 2013. He was born March 23, 1953 in Vancouver, Washington and graduated from Washougal High School in 1971.
Andy was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1974 and moved to Fairbanks, Alaska in 1975 and joined Local 375 were he worked as a pipefitter until his retirement in 2005.
Upon Andy's retirement he and his wife Yuri moved from Anchorage, Alaska to Port Charlotte in 2005. He received his CWI license in 2007 and began a new career working as a pipeline inspector in various locations across the country, currently working on a project in the West Palm Beach area upon his untimely death.
Andy will be remembered for his infectious laughter, fun personality, handyman talents, and easy going demeanor. Andy was blessed with many friends and family that loved him unconditionally.
Andy is survived by his wife, Yuri Groeneveld, of Port Charlotte, Florida; son Brandon and wife Melissa of Kihei, Hawaii; mother, Susanna Groeneveld of Reedsport, Oregon; sister Cindy and husband, Mike Fitzgerald of Tualatin, Oregon; brothers, Ted and wife, Ann of Valdez, Alaska; Matthew and partner, Anita Janssen of Tracy, California; and many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews from Alaska to the Netherlands.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hendrik Groeneveld.
A celebration of Andy's life will be held on Sat., Oct. 12, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. at a reception facility located at the Rietdyk Mill Company, 512 NW Carty Road, Ridgefield, WA 98642. We welcome all to celebrate Andy's life.
