Actually, that's a slight exaggeration – when I was a kid, the only Roger Miller song I knew was "King of the Road." Now, granted, it's a great song to know if you're only going to be familiar with one song from an artist's repertoire.
However, "King of the Road" is far from all there was to Roger Miller's catalog. He recorded 19 albums and won 11 Grammy awards – a record for the most won by any artist until it was surpassed by Michael Jackson in 1982. And Miller's "King of the Road" was just one of three No. 1 singles by the country great. Another was "Dang Me."
Miller's songs have been covered by other country stars. Alan Jackson's rendition of "Tall, Tall Trees" was a No. 1 hit in 1996, and Brooks & Dunn repeated the chart-topping feat when they covered "Husbands and Wives" in 1998. Here's Miller's version of that poignant track.
