VERNON CRESAP
March 3, 1931 ~ April 19, 2013
"Vernon Cresap lived well and laughed often. He loved and was loved. He will be missed."
Vernon Cresap died Friday afternoon, April 19, 2013. He was 82 years old. He was born to Robert and Alice Cresap in Battle Ground, Washington in 1931 and grew up during the times of the Depression and World War II when Battle Ground was small and rural. He graduated from Battle Ground High School in 1949. Vern served four years as an electrician in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S Los Angeles during the Korean Conflict. Shortly after his time in the Navy, he began working for the Inman Oil Company in Vancouver, Washington as a fuel delivery truck driver. He worked for over 40 years for this company - the last 30 of which he served as its manager. Except for his time in the Navy, he lived his entire life in or near Battle Ground.
Throughout his life, Vern enjoyed visiting with his family and many friends. His easy manner and natural laugh helped his conversations be meaningful and pleasant. They were filled with sound advice and his accepting attitude. He also enjoyed working on home and property projects. He especially enjoyed projects that involved using his chainsaw. He was adept at fixing broken-down motors and maintaining farm equipment. Conservative by nature, he routinely separated out component parts of discarded equipment and recycled them at junk and salvage yards. He and his wife Donna enjoyed swing dancing, Mexican Train, and traveling together. They were able to visit many parts of the United States and some parts of Europe during his retirement years. Vern loved ice cream!
He is survived by his wife, Donna Cresap; his sisters, Arlene Osborn and Lorraine Spurling; his son, David Cresap; his daughter, Teri Miller; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Cresap, in 1952.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 27th at Glenwood Community Church, 12201 NE 72nd Avenue, Vancouver, Washington.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Matt Paulsen Donation Account at any iQ Credit Union or mailed to PO Box 1739, Vancouver, WA 98668. (Make checks payable to "Matt Paulsen Donation") Matt is currently battling leukemia and is the husband of Vernon's granddaughter Heather.

I couldn't of asked for a better friend. I will cherish the memories of our talks over coffee. How he loved his family and grandkids. He always smiled when talking about them. How he enjoyed traveling with Donna and talking about the trips they took.
I will miss him. Roberta Dunning
