ROLAND "RON" LOUIS GLEASON
November 1924 ~ February 2013

Roland Louis "Ron" Gleason, 88, a Newberg resident from 1958 to 2008, died Sun., Feb. 24, 2013, at his home in Tigard, OR. He was born in Garibaldi, OR to George and Ruby Gleason, the oldest of five children. Roland graduated from Tillamook High School, then University of Miami, FL, receiving a BS in Business Administration.
Ron was married to Adele Schmid in September 1958. She preceded him in death in 2009.
Ron served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division during WWII. His tours included France, Holland, Germany and Belgium.
He was active in Newberg Rotary, First Presbyterian Church, Newberg Chamber of Commerce, Big Brothers of Yamhill County, as well as volunteering at the Evergreen Air Museum.
Ron is survived by three daughters: Susan Bishop and Jean Orr, both of Vancouver, WA and Carol Gleason of Salem, OR; and one grandchild, Amy Bishop of Seattle, WA.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Fri. on March 8, 2013, at the Post Cemetery at Vancouver Barracks, Vancouver, WA.
Attrell's Newberg Funeral Chapel, 207 Villa Road, Newberg, OR 97132, is in charge of arrangements.
