NANCY COOKMAN

Nancy Cookman, a resident of Vancouver, WA since 1968, passed peacefully to life everlasting on March 13, 2013 at the age of 72. She was born in Seattle to Tom and Mildred Short on May 1, 1940. She graduated from St. Josephs Academy in Yakima, WA.
Nancy and Ron were married at St. Josephs Cathedral in Yakima, WA in 1960.
Nancy attended Clark College earning her Associate degree. She worked in Clark's Wellness Center as a peer councilor and worked in the Community Educational Department during the 1980's and early 1990's.
Nancy was a cancer survivor for 32 years. She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1981. It reoccurred in 2002 and it had metathesised in her abdomen and affected her internal organs and bones.
Nancy was an inspiration to all who knew her.
She made a lasting impression on everyone she met
with her positive, caring attitude, her smile and laughter.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Ron; children, Tom and James; sister, Pat; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass and reception will be held April 6, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Josephs Parish in Vancouver, WA.

Nancy's friendship was a true gift for us and we are so happy we had a chance to know her. Our good thoughts go out to Ron, Tom and James.

We were so happy that Nancy could go on a "campout" with her cousins Kenny and Bernie and David and Lorretta, via pictures thru her email. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Fondest memories, love, Kenny and Bernie Short

Nancy was such a bubbly lady. I will miss her dearly. I'm glad I will see her again one day in Heaven. I'm so glad you aren't suffering any more. Love, Mindy

I've known Nancy since 1968; our boys played togethr. I'm saddened by her passing. She was a great friend and a lovely lady. My condolences to Ron and the boys.
