Crossing the Bar
Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;
For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.

My Uncle Don was one of the greatest men I knew. He loved his family very much and bragged about them often. He loved fishing, gardening, traveling to Italy with Aunt Imma, walking 10 miles a day, and enjoyed his sisters cooking and baking. I have so many great memories of my Uncle. When my sister and I were very young, Uncle Don and Aunt Imma would come visit. My sister and I would each grab an ankle and tell him he couldn't leave. We recently laughed together about that . I am thankful that I was able to spend some time with him recently. I got to hold his hand, tell him how much I love him and tell him he is my hero. I have been blessed in my life to have been given such great memories of such an amazing man. He will be forever in my heart. I will miss him deeply! For my Aunt Imma, cousins Vince, Tony and David, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Uncle Don, may you rest in peace. Thank you for your lifetime of service to our country. I love you. Kelli
