NOAH DEAN BAIRD
March 28, 1995 ~ December 12, 2013
~ United States Marine ~
Noah Dean Baird was born on March 28, 1995 and lived in rural area near Amboy, Washington his entire life. On December 12, 2013, Noah, a U.S. Marine, was in a fatal car accident, leaving his mother Wendy, father Greg, younger brother Levi, as well as many family and friends. Noah is a 2013 Battle Ground High School graduate and participated in the Cross Country team all four years. During Noah's senior year he participated in the Junior Air Force ROTC program.
Noah volunteered to serve his country and with the consent of his father, a former U.S. Marine and his mother, Noah enlisted in the delayed entry program for four years of active duty in the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17. Almost immediately after high school graduation, Noah, along with his best friend Jacob Wedin, attended 13 weeks of recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, California, graduating as a U.S. Marine on October 4, 2013. While at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Noah earned an expert rifle badge, national defense medal, and a first class physical fitness score.
After a ten day leave at home, Noah continued an additional four weeks of Marine Combat Training at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, graduating on November 12, 2013. Noah then proceeded to his Military Occupation Specialty of a Fire Direction Control man for artillery, located at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. While awaiting for his class to begin in January, he was temporarily reassigned as a recruiter's assistant in the Vancouver, Washington area.
Noah was taking his girlfriend, Heather Patterson, to the movies. After exiting Sunset Falls Road on to Lucia Falls Road, they traveled approximately 0.3 miles before colliding with a power pole in his 1995 Subaru. Noah and Heather were transported to the hospital where Noah later passed away with his parents and brother at his side. Heather was released from the hospital and is expected to have a full recovery of her physical injuries.
Noah's mother, father and brother are very appreciative of the very quick response of the Clark County Sheriffs, EMS and hospital personnel, knowing that they performed with a quick response and high standard of professional care. They are very grateful for their exhaustive efforts and noble profession.
Noah enjoyed being with family and friends, video games with his brother, airsoft, shooting, archery, hunting, boating, running, playing cards and serving this great country as a United States Marine.
Noah's funeral will be held on December 19th at 3:30 p.m. at the Battle Ground Baptist Church located at 1110 NW 6th Avenue, Battle Ground, WA. Noah will have a military escort from Evergreen Memorial Gardens prior to the funeral. Noah will then be escorted back to Evergreen Memorial Gardens located at 1101 NE 112th Avenue, Vancouver, WA where he will be laid to rest on December 21st at 12:00 p.m. The burial is open to all friends, family, and those whom would like to pay last respects to Noah Dean Baird, Private of the United States Marine Corps.
