BETTY BEARDSLEY PLANK
January 9, 1921 ~ October 9, 2012

Betty Beardsley Plank, 91, of Vancouver, WA, passed away on Oct. 9, 2012. She was born in Yakima, WA on Jan. 9, 1921 to Mary Elizabeth Beardsley, the middle of three children.
Betty attended the University of Washington, where she met her husband, Harold F. Plank. They were married in June 1944.
Betty worked as a social worker, helping her husband to get his Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics from MIT.
Betty and Harold settled in Portola Valley, CA for many years and had four children, Wilson Plank, Barton Plank (deceased), Alixandra Brevig and Constance Harker Plank. Betty had four grandchildren, Megan Brevig, Erin Harker, Noel Brevig and Sarah Harker.
After divorcing her husband in 1974, Betty moved to Carmel, CA and became the Executive Director of the Carmel Foundation. Betty moved to Vancouver, WA in 1992. Betty became very active in the sewing group at her church, St. Luke's Episcopal Church. She started an association to build an accessible park for seniors.
Eventually, Betty moved to Rose Villa and had an apartment there. She enjoyed the people, the gardens, and the fact that she could have her cat, Chester.

Betty was a wonderful woman and I am sorry to hear of her passing. I had the opportunity to work with her when we did Senior Teas through PeaceHealth Medical Center a few years back then she moved to Portland and I lost touch with her. I thought of her recently and wondered about her so was surprised to see the notice in the paper. I loved her spunk and ideas plus her follow through. I noticed the teas, which moved to Marshall Center, happend long after she left. My condolences to the family of this amazing woman. Mary from PeaceHealth

What a great and inspiring lady. We will miss her. At the Luepke Center she will be remembered as the spearhead of the monthly teas. She was a real
go-getter and loved by all who knew her.
