Edwin Burgstahler, 87, of Washougal, WA, passed away on Nov. 8, 2012. He was born in Raymond, WA to Anna and Henry Burgstahler on July 23, 1925. Ed was a Clark County resident since 1928 and graduated from Battle Ground High School in 1943. In 1950, he graduated from Washington State University.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Ed worked at Alcoa for 16 years and later retired from the County Assessors office in 1986.
He was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Washougal and enjoyed gardening and sports on TV.
Ed is survived by his wife of 47 years, Norma; two sisters, Edna Valencia and Wanda Grzybala; two step-children, Rosemary Miller and Norman Crume; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Sun., Nov. 18, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Vancouver, WA.

Norma, I saw you such a short time ago and you didn't say Ed was so ill. I'm sorry he isn't physically here with you but what a rejoicing there must have been in Heaven when he arrived!

Norma and Family:
My memories of Edwin go back to childhood days at St. John Lutheran Church in the Salmon Creek area, where the Burgstahler family faithfully attended. His good humor and ready smile always touched my heart. He modelled for me and others a true Christian spirit.
