DALE "TOM" RICHARDSON
January 17, 1927 ~ February 15, 2013
Dale "Tom" Richardson, 86, resident of Ridgefield, WA, passed away on February 15, 2013. He is preceded in death by his lovely wife of 53 years, Margie L. Richardson (Bafford), and two brothers and three sisters in North Carolina. Dale was born on January 17, 1927 in Randleman, NC. Dale is survived by one brother, Keith "Teen" Richardson, of Randleman, NC; three sons: Tom, of Vancouver; Howard "Scott" (Taya) Richardson of Ridgefield; Bennie, of Lanai City, Hawaii; seven grand- children, and numerous great-grandchildren.
Dale was enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944 where he served for 24 years as a ship's electrician. During this time he met the love of his life, Margie, and they married on February 8, 1951. In 1955 he and his wife moved from San Diego to Ridgefield to raise their family. Dale retired from the Navy in 1968 and continued to support his family working as an electrician for the City of Vancouver, retiring in 1989.
Dale enjoyed fishing, beekeeping, listening to bluegrass music, and traveling the Northwest with his wife and grandkids. Dale and Margie frequently took summer camping trips to Cape Disappointment and Fort Canby State Park with two to three grandkids in tow. What he most enjoyed was sticking his tongue out at his grandkids and great-grandkids in an effort to get them to smile and do it back.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Cancer Research Institute at 55 Broadway Suite 1802, New York, NY 10006. Please donate in memory of Dale and Margie Richardson.
A celebration of life for Dale and Margie Richardson will be held at the Ridgefield Community Center on March 10, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. A private internment service will be held at Willamette National Cemetery.
