JOHN WILLIAM HAROLD
July 19, 1928 ~ April 12, 2014
John William Harold, 85, of Vancouver, WA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on April 12, 2014. He was born on July 19, 1928 in Loma Township, ND and graduated from Minot High School in the Class of 1946.
Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served on the USS Badoeng Strait during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1951.
He then returned to North Dakota, where he met his wife Delaine. They were married in 1958.
John was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose since 1957. After 25 years of service, he became an administrator and traveling auditor. Even after his retirement, he served as the historian for the Washington State Northern Idaho Moose Association. He was a proud and deserving recipient of many accolades. He received the Pilgrim Degree of Merit in 1997 and was inducted into the Moose Hall of Fame in 2005.
John also enjoyed the many years he spent volunteering for Washington State Parks. He was awarded the Take Pride In America Volunteer Service Award, the President's Call To Service Award, and the Civic Participation Award.
John is survived by his wife, Delaine, of 55 years; sons, Lahre (Sherry) Harold, Bryan (Lugene) Harold; daughter, Sherrin (Cam) Melcher; brother, Alan (Roxie) Harold; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Myrtle and Lyle Harold; and five brothers, George, Duane, Kenneth, Donald and Vernon.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sat., May 3, 2014 at Vancouver Heights United Methodist Church.
Memorial donations may be made to the Moose Charities and Vancouver Heights United Methodist Church.

We Enjoyed HIM & HIS WIFE DELAINE, while they were in Our Lodge & again when We Spent a few DATS with Them, while We vacationed out there.
