Robert Simmons Obituary

ROBERT SIMMONS
May 15, 1942 ~ February 12, 2018

Robert Simmons, 75, formerly of Vancouver, WA, passed away on Feb. 12, 2018 in Yuma, AZ. He was born on May 15, 1942 in Montreal Quebec Canada.
Bob was a veteran of the Army and was proud and thanked for his service.
He was a truck driver and retired from Roadway Express. His career included Shell and SWD.
Bob had a need for speed and began in the 60s, he started driving a dragster. That need for speed continued though his life. Bob went back at 60 years old to see if he could still do it. He drove a Pro nostalgia front engine alcohol dragster. The smile never left his face.
In the late 60s, he got involved in boats. After having other boats he decided to build a boat from the hull up. That's when "Ole Yeller" was born. Many friends and family enjoyed special memories camping and river outings. He also liked snow mobiles. All had great memories at Mt. St. Helens and Palina Lake cabins.
Bob is survived by his wife, Sue; his boys whom he loved so much: Roby and Stacie, Kelly and Katy and Jason and Aleta; grandchildren: Justice, Jenece, Hunter and Logan; great-grandchildren: McKenzie and Maizey; several nieces and nephews; and his service dog, Lily.
Bob was loved very much, will be sadly missed,
and will live forever in our hearts.
A Celebration of Life will be at the American Legion Post 14, Vancouver, WA on, Sat., May 19th, 2018 at 1:00p.m.

Memories and Condolences
for Robert Simmons

Not sure what to say?

Bobby, Bobby, Bobby, I miss you already. I hear that you liked having adventures, fast cars, hot sexy ladies, and beer. Wish I could've known you back then. You seemed to be one hell of a fun guy to be around. This is the Bob that I remembered. Loved to take his Jeep out into the desert. He didn't drive as fast as before. His sexy hot lady was his wife Sue! And he still loved his beer! He was a quiet man with little to say. His voice was warm, soft, and gentle. Always had kind words to say. (At least to me) He had a cute smile like a little boy. He loved his candy corn mixed with nuts. He loved sitting in his garage at night while tinkering around drinking his favorite beer. This is the Bob that I knew and loved. I'll miss you Bobby. God bless you.

My heartfelt wishes to the family of Bob for your loss. I am happy that I got to meet Bob when he and Sue came to Minnesota to visit me. So I know that if tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane, Sue would walk right up to heaven and bring Bob home again!

I am so grateful to Bob Simmons for making my beloved friend,Sue Simmons happy for over 36 years. I know that he will remain in her heart forever and watch over her every minute. I know Bob was greeted Home by many loved ones; that he's already met Misty and is enjoying a cold one with Pat and Don... ( most likely laughing at the antics of their wives!) Enjoy your new adventure,Bob!

Dad, the memories that Sue included here are just the tip of the iceberg. I believe that the trait you most past on to me would be your need for speed.
I always loved the snowmobiles, cars and the boat. I remember how much it bothered you that my boat was just a little faster than yours. Haha.
Thank you for the race tech tips with the Cuda, the life lessons of what it meant to be a man, to always take care of my responsibilities. I love you Dad and I miss you greatly.
Sue- You are a Simmons and always will be a Simmons. Thank you for the great care and love that you have to Dad. I am here for you always. I love you too.
