Shoshanna Porter Obituary

SHOSHANNA PORTER

Shoshanna Porter, 62, died July 22, 2013 of breast cancer.
She retired from Clark College as Dept. Chair of Electronic Technology. After retiring, she followed her life-long dream of becoming a certified chaplain and was employed by Providence ElderPlace.
Staff and friends remember her especially
for her gentle presence and giving nature.
Gardening, reading, and going to the beach were some of the passions that fed her life that she then so generously shared with friends and ElderPlace residents and staff.
Shoshanna is survived by her wife, Anke Matoga; her mother, Doris Porter; and sister, Kathleen Porter.
She was preceded in death by her father, Alan Porter.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

I was gifted to know Shoshanna as both friend and colleague and to serve as the chair for her ecclesial endorsement as a chaplain. Shoshanna: Presente!

I'm so sorry to read this. Shoshanna and I were in the CPE program together as she was becoming a chaplain and I was becoming a UU parish minister. It was lovely to have another UU in the program, and I admired her gentleness and strength. I"m so sorry for your loss.

I am a Catholic priest and not so long ago I offered monthly Masses at Elderplace and Shoshana welcomed me and participated with us. She was always so gracious and kind and conscientious about "rounding up" those who wished to pray. I am happy to know more about her good life and I give her to God along with all her dear Anke and her loved ones to enjoy the goodness of God and the joy of heaven. Peace to you, Father John McGrann

Shoshanna was always gracious whenever we chatted while we both were employed at Clark College. So glad she could follow her dream after retirement. That is a priceless gift.

Shoshanna and I began at Clark around the same time in the mid 70's. She had a gracious and gentle manner I always admired. My deepest sympathies to her family.
