CHARLES "CHUCK" M. ANDERSEN
July 15, 1932 ~ July 10, 2013
Charles Martin Andersen of Vancouver, WA, peacefully passed away just days before his 81st birthday. He was born July 15, 1932 in Clackamus, OR to Martin and Lillian (Fredolph) Andersen and was raised on a farm in Damascus. He graduated from Gresham High School.
After serving in the Army for three years and attending college in Portland, OR, he began his lifelong career as an Engineer in Communications, including assisting with the installation of an Earth Station in Africa.
Chuck was a longtime member of the Golden Heirs at Brush Prairie Baptist Church, and enjoyed many trips and special events with the friends he made in this group.
Chuck enjoyed traveling and was able to fulfill dreams of taking a mailboat through the Fjords of Norway, spending time with relatives in Denmark, visiting friends in England who he had met while living and working with Ford Aerospace, and crossing the ocean on the QE2.
Besides playing bridge, one of Chuck's favorite activities was going to lunch. For the past 18 years, he has been a weekly fixture at Beaches (his second family) and McGrath's for 14 years.
Chuck is survived by his beloved wife, Eleanor; his dog, Bonzi; 11 step-children, countless grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 23 years, Kathaleen "Kaye" Andersen; his parents; and sisters, Dollie Seal, Nellie Andersen and Ester Kehrli.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tues., July 16, 2013 at Brush Prairie Baptist Church, 11814 NE 117th Ave., Vancouver, WA.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to a charity of your choice.
