DONNA JEAN (KNOWLING) WESTBY
October 5,1944 ~ January 4, 2013
Donna passed away at OHSU surrounded by those who loved her. She had been battling cancer for the last year. She was very strong and optimistic about treatment and bravely accepted what was put in her path. Donna was retired from sales at Wickes Home Furnishings. She had worked in sales her entire life, starting at Skyline Sports, Dick Hannah Auto, and Wickes. She enjoyed meeting new people and being a part of their lives by helping them choose just the right furniture for their needs. She had an eye for decorating as well as fashion. Nordstrom was her favorite place to shop. When not working, she loved taking care of her yard and visiting with her neighbors. She was the "Matriarch" of the neighborhood, having lived in the same place for 43 years! She enjoyed San Francisco and Irish coffees.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bob Knowling; sisters, Ruth Knowling and Mary Knowling Buckley.
She is survived by her son, Brett Westby; and daughter, Casey Westby; grandchildren, Michael and Alicia Stevens. She is also survived by her sister, Cora Knowling Brown; and many loving nieces and nephews.
There will be a celebration of her life on Feb. 2, 2013 from 2-4p.m. at her favorite pizza place...Benny's Rod n Custom at 4219 NE St. Johns Rd., Vancouver, WA 98661.

Sorry to hear of Donna's passing. I knew her in the 50's when she and Karen Cleveland and Linda Molford would come over to Dick Wilson's home after school and we would all watch American Dancestand. She was such a cheerful person and everyone enjoyed being around her.
I am sorry for the family's loss.

Dearest Donna,
Your sparking, humorous and generous spirit is already sorely missed. The corner of 22nd an G Street will never be the same without you. The neighbor kids are all picking up the leaves under your trees for you and begging their parents for red light bulbs on their front porches to display in your honor. Your wonderful gifts of self are alive and well in all the lives you have touched. Love you so much!
Your friend and neighbor,

I think God see's the death of His saints differently than we do -- from
the other side of the veil. We who remain rightly suffer our loss, but
heaven rejoices their arrival. One day we'll all be together... with
understanding.
