“Voici mon secret. Il est très simple: on ne voit bien qu'avec le cœur. L'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux.” “Here is my secret. It's quite simple: One sees clearly only with the heart. Anything essential is invisible to the eyes.”
? Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince
It's hard to describe what is essential about Millie -- it was the feeling of giving, of laughter, of thoughtfulness, of her forever young spirit. I will miss Millie so much because we always miss what is essential to life -- the good and loving heart. I will keep a candle in honor of her irreplaceable spirit at my home, so blessed to have her in my life. When I look at the stars at night, I will always think of her and our loved ones gone before us -- God speed and be safe in the Lord's arms this day and all the days until we meet again.

Dear Millie first came into my life after being introduced to me by her niece, Sandra. Millie, along with Marge and Bob were coming to Ireland on vacation, and so we began to write letters to each other before they arrived in Dublin. Ever since that time, we became close friends.
I have spent many hours, sitting around the family table at Marge's house, visiting with her and Millie. Or going shopping at the craft stores with both of them.
Millie loved to recount many tales of growing up, and speaking very fondly of her family whom she loved so much. Her beautiful smile will always stay with me.
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.
God Speed, Millie xxx

I met Millie when I joined a china painting group several years ago. We became fast buddies. My first year painting I went to the annual china painting school and one evening Millie asked me if I wanted to learn to knit, as I'm sure she had asked many people in her life. Of course I said yes and from that time on, most Thursdays after china painting, we would go to her house and knit. There I met her children and several of her grandchildren, most of whom she had also taught to knit. She was a teacher at heart and a wonderful person. I will truly miss her.

Aunt Mil was a wonderful aunt, that supported me through thick and thin. I've known her nearly 50 years and have shared many laughs, tears, school stories and lots of meals. Thanks for the great easy almond roca recipe!

The first time I visited Aunt Millie in the hospital, her room was crowded with visitors; her daughter Chris, Grandchildren and others. I know that Aunt Marge and Pat were with her daily. The love just radiated from her room!
The last visit I had with Aunt Millie she talked about how proud she was of her children and grandchildren and how especially proud she was of Chris; that all her hard work had paid off with a promotion at work. Aunt Millie loved many, and knew that she was loved by so many in return. I believe, in the end, that's what matters the most. What a wonderful woman and family!
