William "Bill" Spencer Axelson, 72, of Ridgefield, WA, passed away June 19, 2014. He was born in Oak Park, IL to Karl and Corrine Axelson. Bill grew up in Oak Park and Atlanta, GA.
In the early 60's, Bill served in the Army with duty stations at White Sands Missile base in New Mexico and at the 1st Missle Battalion in Vicenza, Italy.
After the Army, Bill moved to the San Francisco Bay area and graduated from San Jose State in 1968.
Bill later moved to Portland, OR where he worked in HVAC Control sales for both Honeywell and Industrial Control. In 1981, he started his own company, Airway Supply, as a wholesaler for HVAC filtrations products. He sold Airway in 1999 and enjoyed his retirement traveling, reading, and listening to "Rush".
Bill had a wonderful collection of antique thermostats which he proudly displayed on the walls of Airway Supply. In 2008, he was thrilled when the Smithsonian Institute accepted donation of his collection to be displayed in their History Museum.
Bill is survived by his wife of 33 years, Pat; two children, Jim Axelson and Kari Burnside (John); two step-children, Scott Olesen (Terinna) and Shelley Ferryman (Lee); three grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Rodger; his brother, John; and sister, Ann.
Per his request, there will be no service. However, there will be a Celebration of Life for him on Sept. 7, 2014 (the day after his 73rd birthday) for his family and friends, at his home.
