Lynn R. Carter a resident of Vancouver, WA passed at his home surrounded by family and friends on Saturday February 2, 2013. Lynn died peacefully after a long battle with congestive heart failure.

He was born March 3, 1949 in Portland, Oregon the son of Ralph Carter, Sr. (deceased) and Doris (Carter) Johnson. After attending Roosevelt High School Lynn joined the U.S. Army in 1967. Lynn served nine years in the Army including a tour in the Vietnam War during 1968-69. Lynn was awarded four bronze stars and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry for his heroism in combat while in the Vietnam War.

Lynn is survived by his wife of 28 years, Shelley; children, Byron Carter (deceased), Mandy Carter, Tawnya Ford, Adam Morrison; and four grandchildren. Adding to his loving family are his brothers, Mark Carter and Ralph Carter, Jr.

Services will be held at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mt. Scott Blvd, Portland, OR 97086-6937 on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013 at 11:00 a.m.
