June 26, 1928 ~ June 24, 2014

Howard Leland Borge passed away on June 24, 2014 at the age of 85. He was born on June 26, 1928 to Oscar and Emma Borge. He was raised in Portland, OR and graduated from Jefferson High School. He and his best friend Pete Petersen entered the U.S. Navy in 1944 and proudly served our country during World War II until he was honorably discharged in 1945.
He returned to Portland and met the love of his life Marie Hayes and they were married on September 11, 1948. They shared their love for each other for the next 65 years.
Howard is survived by his wife, Marie; brother, Orville; sons, Mike and Jeff; daughter, Cathy Tromblee; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
His grandson, Peter Lealos, preceded him in death in October 2012.
He dearly loved his family and it showed through the care, advice and support he always gave to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Howard was a hard worker and ambitious businessman. He worked his way as a milkman to a branch manager at Mayflower Dairy. He sold real estate for 20 years; first worked for Freeman Keller and then co-founded Borge/LeDoux Real Estate with Leonard LeDoux.
After retiring, Howard took great pride in being involved in the community. Volunteering with Hospice and becoming the Chairman of the poinsettia sales was something he enjoyed for over 16 years. He loved to travel with Marie and enjoyed cooking family meals and lefsa for the holidays. He loved life and loved people. He was always so friendly, positive and fun to be with. His happy smile will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is now with our Lord in Heaven.
