EDWARD ARTHUR HAUZENBERGER
February 1, 1928 ~ January 24, 2013
Edward Arthur Hauzenberger, 84, of Vancouver, WA, passed away peacefully on Thurs., Jan. 24, 2013. He was born on Feb. 1, 1928 in Vancouver, the youngest child of Karl and Elizabeth (Alplanalp) Hauzenberger. Edward attended elementary, middle school, and Vancouver High School in Vancouver, WA.
He went on to serve in the U.S. Navy from April 1945 until his discharge in 1949.
After the Navy, Edward attended Clark College where he also played football, and Portland State University.
He worked for Buick Motors, General Motors, and Michelin Tire Company, ending his career as an owner-operator with Broadway Taxi Company in 1989.
Edward had been active in the Vancouver Toastmaster Chapter No. 353, where he served as a president and the Kiwanis Clubs where he received many awards. He was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 14 and the Sons of Norway.
Edward enjoyed time tutoring at Truman Elementary School and being a Lunch Buddy at Fruit Valley Elementary School. In his younger days, Edward loved to bowl, golf, and go deer hunting (even though he did not always bring one home). Later, he enjoyed playing cards and playing cribbage with two close friends.
Edward is survived by his wife of 55 years, Myrna; children, Linda Oxley (Terry), Michael Hauzenberger (Robbie), Steven Hauzenberger (Cindy) and Teresa Ferrell (Jerry), all of Vancouver, WA; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Elizabeth Hauzenberger; brothers, Carl, Alfred and Harold Hauzenberger; sister, Elizabeth Bury; and nephew, Dick Hauzenberger.
Services will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens on Mon., Feb. 4, 2013 at 12:30 p.m., with viewing time on Sun., Feb. 3 from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Mon., Feb. 4, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
