DONALD ALLEN TAYLOR
March 27, 1935 ~ December 28, 2013
Longtime Vancouver, WA resident, Donald A. Taylor, 78, passed away Dec. 28, 2013, at PeaceHealth Medical Center. He was born in Longview, WA on March 27, 1935 to George and Margaret Taylor. Donald grew up in Castle Rock, WA and attended Castle Rock High School where he was a standout football player (1949-1953), and played for his beloved Washington Huskies as well.
After high school, Donald attended the University of Washington and graduated from College of Puget Sound where he was in the Kappa Sigma fraternity and was President his senior year.
In 1958, Donald married Carol Goodno, and during their marriage they had two sons, Michael and Jeffrey.
He served in the U.S. Army for two years in Japan (1958-1960) before returning home.
Upon returning, Donald settled in Vancouver and became a lumber broker. After this, he created Custom Wood Components, a truss company located in Vancouver.
In 1974, he married his second wife, Evelyn Nicholas. Donald worked for himself most of his life in the lumber/truss business, as well as real estate, and finally in trucking.
He was an avid duck hunter and golfer, and a member of Royal Oaks Country Club in Vancouver for 50 years.
Survivors include his sons, Michael (Carri) and Jeffrey (Janna); grandson, Logan; granddaughter, Lydia; and step-children, Tracy and Scott, from his second marriage to Evelyn.
Donald was preceded in death by his second wife, Evelyn; his sister, Joyce Diller; and his parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Royal Oaks Country Club on Sat., Feb. 1st from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.

What a great guy and a close friend for over 50 years. Glad I got to see him mid December. We had a good conversation and Mike was there with him. Mike & Jeff, your dad was a real sweetheart who left lots of good memories.
