WILLIAM "BILL" J. ELLIS
June 3, 1923 ~ August 1, 2013
William "Bill" J. Ellis, 90, resident of Vancouver, WA since 1971, passed away on Aug. 1, 2013. He was born in Natchitoches, LA on June 3, 1923.
He attended Northwestern State University.
Bill proudly served as a Captain in the Army during WWII with the Second Infantry Division. He saw action on Omaha Beach and five campaigns in Europe, earning several medals and service ribbons. After the war, he spent 40 years in the grocery business.
Bill was married to Beulah Marie Ellis for 48 years until her death on July 8, 1999.
He was a life member of Vancouver Elks #823 and president of the Minit Mart Corporation for 13 years. He enjoyed fishing, golf, and the Oregon coast.
Bill is survived by his son, John R. Ellis of Macon, MO; step-daughter, Gwen L. Malody of Kennewick, WA; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
